About Pancoran

Pancoran is one of the districts and the center of business in South Jakarta. It previously was part of Mampang Prapatan district, but in 1991 Pancoran officially separated itself from Mampang Prapatan and became a district.

The Dirgantara Monument, or Patung Pancoran, is the main icon of the Pancoran area and considered as one of the iconic landmarks in Jakarta. 

Pancoran district is a very busy and active area. It is surrounded by skyscrapers and offices, but you can also find interesting destinations around this area, starting from museums to playground, and well-known restaurants to cafes.

1. Museum di Tengah Kebun

Museum di Tengah Kebun is considered a hidden gem in South Jakarta, because it is far from the hustle and bustle of the city. Just like its name, this museum is an art museum built in the middle of a 3,500 square meter garden

Museum di Tengah Kebun has more than 4,000 historical antique collections, from statues, wayang puppets, masks, cupboards, wall decorations, and home furnitures. All of these items are Sjahrial Djalil’s personal collection. He is one of Indonesia’s figures in advertising.If you want to visit this museum, you must have at least 10 participants for each session. However, visitors who come are usually only allowed to take photos in the outdoor areas or gardens.

2. Monumen Patung Dirgantara

Monumen Patung Dirgantara, or also known as Patung Pancoran, is one of the most iconic landmarks in Jakarta. This 11-meter-high statue is famous for its unique pose, which depicts manusia angkasa (space man). 

This statue was built in 1964 and commissioned by President Soekarno. It has a meaning to show the spirit and courage of Indonesian people, or according to Satya Rasa Sunarso it represents the Air Force’s team goal, “Achieve your dream as high as the sky”.

The Dirgantara Monument is located in a very strategic area, in front of Wisma Aldiron Dirgantara office and near Halim Perdanakusuma Airport.3. Kidzania Jakarta

If you are looking for an exciting and educational destination that is family-friendly, this is the right place to go. Located at Pacific Place Mall, Kidzania Jakarta is a children's playground with education and entertainment (edutainment) concepts. 

Your children will choose their job or profession they like, like doctor, firefighter, scientist, etc. They will learn and increase their skills by experimenting many interesting things here. 

Kidzania Jakarta interior looks like a real city, because there is a miniature of city hall, bank, supermarket, restaurant, theater, and hospital. 

4. Kota Kasablanka Mall

There are several shopping centers or malls around Bobobox Pancoran, one of which is Kota Kasablanka Mall. 

Located in Tebet District, this mall is considered as the most complete mall in South Jakarta, because you can get all your needs and entertainment in this mall, from theater, playground, fashion stores, restaurants, cafes, and many more are available here.

5. Perpustakaan Freedom

If you want to visit a peaceful destination, Perpustakaan Freedom at Wisma Bakrie 1 Building could be the perfect choice to go.

In this library, you can read thousands of book collections arranged neatly on the shelves. The design of this library is also very comfortable with a seating area and tables.

Located next to the Kuningan Madya bus stop, you do not have to worry about the transportation and the access to Perpustakaan Freedom.
