That’s why we put together a 30-day Southeast Asia itinerary, giving you more time to explore the best places without feeling rushed.

Southeast Asia Itinerary

This route is designed to make the most of your time, traveling smoothly from the north of Southeast Asia down to the south, ending in Indonesia.

Your adventure begins in Hanoi, a city where ancient history meets chaotic energy. Spend your days getting lost in the Old Quarter’s 36 streets, and sipping on the famous Egg Coffee at a hidden cafe.

No trip to Northern Vietnam is complete without escaping the city, so dedicate a full day to cruising the emerald waters and limestone islands of Ha Long Bay.

2. Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam (2 Days)

Complete your Indochina loop by heading into Southern Vietnam. Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon) offers a modern contrast to Hanoi. Dive into history at the War Remnants Museum, which offers a moving perspective on the Vietnam War.

For a taste of local life, negotiate for souvenirs at the Ben Thanh Market and enjoy a Banh Mi from a street vendor before heading to the airport.

3. Luang Prabang, Laos (3 Days)

After the busy pace of Ho Chi Minh City, take a short flight to Luang Prabang, Laos. This part of the journey is all about rest and reflection. Wake up before sunrise to witness Tak Bat, the daily alms-giving ceremony where hundreds of monks walk quietly through the streets.

During the day, take a tuk-tuk to the Kuang Si Falls, where the multi-tiered turquoise pools are perfect for a refreshing swim.

4. Siem Reap, Cambodia (3 Days)

After Luang Prabang, travel onward to Siem Reap by flight or a long-distance bus. This city is your gateway to the ancient Khmer Empire and home to the world-famous Angkor temple complex.

The main highlight is Angkor Wat, best seen at sunrise. You must wake up around 4:30 AM to watch the sky change colors behind the iconic towers.

5. Manila and Cebu, Philippines (3 Days)

From Siem Reap, catch a flight to the Philippines for an island detour. Start in Manila to walk through the cobbled streets of Intramuros, the historic Spanish-walled city. However, the real gem is Cebu.

Fly there to experience world-class water activities. You can swim with massive sardine runs in Moalboal or go canyoneering at Kawasan Falls.

From Kuala Lumpur, it’s easy to reach Singapore by bus or a short flight. This modern city may be more expensive than its neighbors. However, you can still save money by eating at hawker centers, where affordable, Michelin-recognized meals are available.

Spend your time walking through the surreal Cloud Forest and marveling at the Supertree Grove in Gardens by the Bay, especially during the nightly light and sound show.

9. Indonesia (6 Days)
