1. Day Trip

For those who want to take a short but intense vacation, a day trip to Komodo National Park might be just right for you. You can choose from a variety of full-day trip packages taking you to spend a day exploring the park’s most iconic islands, including Komodo Island, Rinca Island, and Padar Island.

The package usually includes waterborne transportation from Labuan Bajo, lunch, and an entrance fee to Komodo National Park. The day trip is an ideal choice if you are pressed for time but still want to enjoy the beauty of this national park.

2. Live on Board

If you are looking for a more fun and exhilarating experience, why not try ‘live on board’? It literally means living on a boat for a few days–allowing you to explore every corner of Komodo National Park.

Living on board is arguably one of the most relaxing travel styles that takes you to a world of pristine islands, snorkel at some of the best dive sites, or catch a sunrise from the deck.

A liveaboard trip typically lasts 2-4 days, depending on the package you choose. It's perfect for those looking for a meaningful getaway filled with relaxation, adventure, and raw beauty.

The Best Spots to Check Out in Komodo National Park

Komodo National Park is composed of three major islands and numerous smaller ones, each with its own unique charm. Aside from Komodo Island as the star attraction, there are other must-see spots with awe-inspiring sights and fun things to do. Here are some worth checking out!

1. Komodo Island

Of course, Komodo Island has to be on the top list when you are visiting Komodo National Park. This island is the natural habitat of the komodo dragons, the world’s largest living lizard, existing nowhere else in the world but here.

You can take a guided hike led by a ranger to observe the komodo dragons in their natural environment. Besides the dragons, Komodo Island packs a whole lot of stunning natural beauty–rolling green hills that contrast starkly with the blue waters.

To get here, you can take a boat from Labuan Bajo. There are three options to choose from, the first being speed boats that take about 1-2 hours. Another option would be the Pelni boat, which is Kapal KM Gandha Nusantara 20. The boat ride is around 3-4 hours.

  • Entrance fee to Komodo Island: Rp320,000 for locals and Rp620,000 for foreigners

2. Rinca Island

Rinca Island is a good alternative for those wishing to see komodo dragons. Because the place is relatively open, it is easier to spot the lizards here. Aside from guided walks to see the komodo, you can also soak up the beauty of Rinca Island, covered in savannah and mangrove trees.

The trekking experience itself is moderately challenging, but it offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes.

  • Access: accessible by boat from Labuan Bajo, the journey takes about 2 hours
  • Entrance fee: more affordable compared to Komodo National Park, which is Rp50,000, not including ranger fees

Here you can go snorkeling or simply sunbathe on the soft sands. The crystal clear waters around Pink Beach reveal a mesmerizing underwater world, making it a very special place for diving and snorkeling fans.

Located on the opposite side of Padar Island, Pink Beach can be easily accessed in three ways. Upon arrival in Labuan Bajo, you can opt to take private speedboats, group day trips by boat, or liveaboard cruises.
